1. INDONESIA TARGETS REVITALISATION OF 71,000 SCHOOLS IN 2026 -- ANTARA

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is targeting the revitalisation of 71,000 schools across Indonesia in 2026 as part of the government’s continued efforts to improve the quality of national education.

 

2. LAND, FOREST FIRE CASES IN RIAU JUMPED BY 205 PCT IN 2025 -- THE JAKARTA POST

The Riau Police handled a significantly increasing amount of forest and land fire cases in 2025, which jumped by 205 per cent from only 20 cases in 2024 to a whopping 61 cases in 2025.

State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing urged national unity and peace during the 78th Independence Day celebration. He also urged the implementation of a multiparty democratic system.

Philippine National Police (PNP) acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. reported on Saturday that the country’s overall crime rate declined by 12.4 per cent in 2025 compared to 2024.

The United States (US) has postponed a planned tariff increase, not related to its reciprocal tariff, on Vietnamese finished wood products until 2027. This is to allow trade negotiations.
