KING GRANTS AUDIENCE TO NEW MINISTER OF PLANTATION AND COMMODITIES

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today granted an audience to Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, who was appointed to the post on Dec 16.

According to a post on the Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Facebook page, the meeting at Istana Bukit Tunku included a briefing on the ministry’s plans and strategic direction.

Also present was the ministry’s Secretary-General, Datuk Yusran Shah Mohd Yusof.

During the audience, His Majesty also shared views and advice, emphasising that all plans should be implemented with integrity, grounded in good governance and prioritising the interests of the people.

Noraini, who is also the Member of Parliament for Parit Sulong, was appointed Plantation and Commodities Minister following a cabinet reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Dec 16, involving 28 ministers and deputy ministers.

Meanwhile, a separate post stated that His Majesty also granted an audience to the Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong.

During the meeting, His Majesty was briefed on the ministry’s plans, including initiatives to strengthen micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Sultan Ibrahim said MSMEs are among the key pillars in efforts to uplift the people’s economy, while also playing a vital role in creating job opportunities and generating household income.

“Continuous support from the government and relevant agencies is crucial to ensure MSMEs remain competitive and sustainable in the long term,” His Majesty said.
