CYBERJAYA, Jan 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPEIM) aims to raise RM70 million in infak (charity) donations this year through its 2026 Infak Year initiative, introduced to strengthen the foundation’s role in managing infak funds in the country.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Dr Zulkifli Hasan, said the initiative seeks to boost individual and corporate participation and to promote a more structured, impactful culture of infak giving.

Alhamdulillah, we are confident of reaching this target, and our efforts have made a significant contribution to society in education and socioeconomics, with YaPEIM also producing many entrepreneurs.

“This shows that YaPEIM not only channels donations but also develops the economic capacity of Muslims,” he told reporters after launching the initiative here today.

Zulkifli said the YaPEIM Infak Year initiative is a strategic effort to revive the culture of giving infak and support the sustainable development of the nation’s social funding ecosystem.

“…YaPEIM is not just a leader in knowledge and intellectual contributions, but also in putting aspirations into action. It leads in implementing a humane economy, which aligns with the foundation’s mission,” he said.

He said, YaPEIM tasked with managing infak funds, has taken a progressive approach to expand contributor participation, build stakeholder confidence and ensure each contribution delivers measurable impact.

“The Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) himself, in Budget 2026 speech, stressed that the Islamic economy must deliver mercy, justice and sustainability for all. YaPEIM has therefore taken steps to further strengthen its business and other initiatives,” he added.

The YaPEIM 2026 Infak Year launch also supports its aims to be the nation’s leading infak institution by increasing donations, forging strategic partnerships and expanding programmes nationwide.

The effort seeks to build a sustainable, inclusive and effective infak ecosystem to support the socio-economic development of Muslims.
