NUMBER OF FLOOD EVACUEES RISE IN SARAWAK, DROP IN SABAH THIS EVENING

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- The number of flood evacuees at relief centres rose in Sarawak but dropped in Sabah as of 4 pm today.

In SARAWAK, there are 1,172 evacuees from 349 families at 15 relief centres this afternoon compared to 319 people from 93 families this morning, while in SABAH, there are 503 evacuees from 173 families this evening compared to 633 people from 215 families this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a severe warning of continuous rain for Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman (Sri Aman) and Betong (Pusa and Betong).

The department also issued an alert warning for continuous rain for the areas of Kuching (Lundu), Sri Aman (Lubok Antu), Betong (Saratok & Kabong), Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu and Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi).
