JAKARTA, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- The Indonesian authorities have officially concluded a search and rescue (SAR) operation for the remaining victim who went missing after a tourist boat carrying several Spanish nationals capsized in Labuan Bajo, East Java, late last month.

Indonesia National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) in a statement said the SAR was called off Thursday after 15 days of intensive operation to locate four missing victims involved in the incident.

Head of the Maumere Search and Rescue Office and SAR Mission coordinator Fathur Rahman said three bodies were recovered while one Spanish national had not been found and was declared missing.

On Dec 26, a tourist boat carrying Spanish Valencia CF Femenino’s coach, Fernando Martin, his wife and their four children along with several local crew capsized.

Seven people, including Martin’s wife and a daughter, were rescued.

During the 15-day operation, the team recovered the coach’s 12-year-old daughter on Dec 29, while Martin’s body was found on Jan 4, and the body of one of his sons was retrieved two days later.

The final victim, identified as Martines Ortuno Enriquejavier, was another of Martin’s sons.

Fathur added that the SAR operation could be reopened should any indications of the missing victim’s discovery arise in the future.
