KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- Two of Malaysia’s professional mixed doubles pairs, Jimmy Wong-Lai Pei Jing and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai, advanced to the second round of the 2026 Inda Open after dispatching their first round opponents today.
Jimmy-Pei Jin beat Japanese pair Yuta Watanabe-Maya Taguchi 21-10, 23-21 in 36 minutes at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex to set up a second round meeting against either Chinese pair Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping or Mads Vestergaard-Christine Busch of Denmark.
Meanwhile, Soon Huat-Shevon Lai beat Taiwanese Wu Guan Xun-Lee Chia Hsin 21-17, 21-17 and will meet either Chen Cheng Kuan-Hsu Yin Hui of Taiwan or Ruttanapak Oupthong-Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat of Thailand in the second round.
A third Malaysian mixed doubles pair, Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin unfortunately lost their first round match 21-17, 16-21, 20-22 to third seeded Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supissara Paewsampran of Thailand.
