FIREFIGHTERS DELIVER FOOD AID TO FLOOD VICTIMS IN TATAU, SEBAUH

BINTULU, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) today carried out food aid delivery operations to assist residents affected by flooding and disrupted road access in several areas in Tatau and Sebauh.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre, the first operation was conducted at 10.27 am, involving the delivery of food aid to the Rose Jalong longhouse in Nanga Buan, Tatau, by personnel from the Tatau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP).

“In the operation, firefighters delivered 56 packs of food aid weighing a total of 280 kilogrammes, along with 56 packs of rice weighing 560 kilogrammes. The supplies were transported from a supermarket in Tatau to the Tatau Old Market Jetty before being distributed to affected residents by boat with the assistance of villagers,” a spokesperson for the centre said in a statement today.

The operation involved a lorry and two firefighters.

Meanwhile, another aid delivery operation was carried out at 11.00 am in the Sebauh area by the Bintulu BBP.

A total of 60 food aid packs, with an estimated weight of 1,020 kilogrammes, were transported by boat from Sebauh Jetty to Kampung Melayu, Labang, Sebauh, after the land route was cut off due to flooding.

The Sebauh operation involved a boat and seven firefighters.
