KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s crude palm oil (CPO) production in 2026 is projected to ease slightly to between 19.50 million tonnes and 19.80 million tonnes compared to 20.28 million tonnes recorded in 2025, according to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).
However, MPOB director-general Datuk Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir said that more replanting efforts would boost CPO output.
He said that palm oil and palm-based product exports are projected to range between 15.80 million tonnes and 16 million tonnes in 2026 (2025: 24.80 million tonnes), with estimated export revenue of RM110 billion in 2026, as against RM112.51 billion in 2025.
He said this during his presentation titled “The Malaysian Palm Oil Industry Performance 2025 and Prospects for 2026” at the Palm Oil Economic Review and Outlook Seminar (R&O) 2026, here today.
Ahmad Parveez said MPOB expects CPO prices to range from RM4,000 per tonne to RM4,300 per tonne in 2026, as against last year’s prices, which hit an average RM4,292.50 per tonne, exceeding MPOB’s target of RM4,200 per tonne.
“But this year, we are currently looking at many factors that are affecting (CPO prices). So, there are a lot of issues of what we call uncertainty out there, and to be on the safe side, we are looking at around RM4,000 a tonne to RM4,300 a tonne,” he said.
Meanwhile, commenting on the palm oil industry's performance in 2025, MPOB chairman Datuk Mohamad Helmy Othman Basha said the year was a good one for the industry, with CPO production exceeding 20 million tonnes, driven by strong labour forces and good weather.
He said MPOB will continue to encourage smallholders to replant palm trees as much as possible for this year to keep the high production going.
“This is our major push for this year, and we are very pleased that the government has continued to allocate funds for replanting for the smallholders.
“So, MPOB will be the agency that is tasked to ensure this replanting (effort to be sustained) by the smallholders,” he told a press conference here today.
