OVER 900,000 STUDENTS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE BAP IN SELANGOR

13/01/2026 07:16 PM

KLANG, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- A total of 943,975 students in 944 schools across Selangor will receive the Early Schooling Assistance (BAP) of RM150 each, involving a total allocation of RM141,596,250.

Selangor Education Department director Wan Nor Ashikin Abu Kassim said the assistance would be distributed to all schools in the state within 30 days, beginning today, in preparation for the new school session.

“The BAP programme reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that every student begins the school year in an orderly and smooth manner.

“All District Education Offices must adhere strictly to financial management regulations and procedures outlined in Financial Circular No. 5 of 2025 to ensure the smooth implementation of BAP,” she said in her speech at the presentation of mocf cheques for the state-level BPA  at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Meru today.

The cheques were presented by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Meru Assemblywoman Mariam Abdul Rashid to representatives from 10 District Education Offices (PPD).

Earlier, in his speech, Amirudin said that strengthening the education sector would contribute to the progress of both the state and the country, prompting the Selangor government to implement various additional programmes, including public tuition and new initiatives aligned with technological advancements and future job market needs.

He said this commitment was further reinforced by an increase in the education sector allocation to RM55 million, making it the highest allocation for the sector in the history of the Selangor government.

“The Selangor Budget 2026 recorded the highest-ever allocation for education, reflecting the state government’s strong commitment to building a solid educational foundation across all levels of society.

“We may not have natural resources such as oil, gold or silver, but the true strength of this state lies in its human resources — our high-quality and high-potential human capital,” he said.

At the same ceremony, Amirudin also presented RM20,000 in disaster relief aid from the Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor) to SMK Meru, which was affected by a storm several months ago.
