TENGKU HASSANAL CONGRATULATES SSM PAHANG U-19 RUGBY TEAM

KUANTAN, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- The Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, today conveyed his highest congratulations to the Pahang Malaysia Sports School (SSM Pahang) rugby team for emerging champions in the men’s category of the Asian Under-19 (U-19) Rugby Sevens Championship.

The championship, held at the Royal Thai Air Force Stadium in Bangkok, saw the SSM Pahang team, representing Malaysia, deliver an impressive performance by defeating Thailand’s King’s College 27-17 in the final.

According to a post on the Kesultanan Pahang Facebook page, His Royal Highness expressed pride in the fighting spirit, high discipline and strong teamwork displayed by the young SSM Pahang players, which brought honour to the nation on the international stage.

At the same championship, the national women’s team, Bunga Raya Girl, comprising selected players from local schools and universities, also recorded a commendable achievement by finishing third overall.

His Royal Highness advised the young athletes to remain humble and disciplined, and to continuously strive to improve their performance, while taking this success as motivation to reach greater heights in the future.

Tengku Hassanal also expressed hope that the achievements of SSM Pahang and Bunga Raya Girl at the Asian U-19 Rugby Sevens Championship would serve as a catalyst for the continued development of rugby at the school and grassroots levels, and in producing more potential athletes capable of bringing pride to Pahang and Malaysia on the world stage.
