MYNIISE NOT YET MANDATORY, TRAVELLERS HAVE MULTIPLE CLEARANCE OPTIONS - IMMIGRATION DG

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- The use of the National Integrated Immigration System (MyNIISe) mobile application is not mandatory at present, and travellers may continue to use existing methods for immigration clearance at the country’s entry points.

These include clearance using a quick response (QR) code via the MyBorderPass application, manual processing, or conventional automated gates, in addition to the MyNIISe system.

Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the public need not worry if they have yet to use the MyNIISe system, as the Immigration Department continues to provide various options for immigration clearance.

“At present, the use of MyNIISe is not mandatory, and travellers still have other options, including passing through autogates using their passports, not only via QR codes.

“Passport scanning can still be used even without the application. Therefore, the public does not need to worry,” he told reporters, after delivering a message to Immigration staff, here, today.

However, he encouraged the public to use the MyNIISe application, as it offers faster and more efficient immigration clearance, compared with manual methods and conventional automated gates.

“For those who wish to use the QR code facility, they will need to download the MyNIISe application, and register using a MyDigital ID. That is all, and overall, the immigration clearance process will not be disrupted,” he said.

On the MyBorderPass application, Zakaria said it would continue to be maintained until it is fully integrated into the MyNIISe system, adding that the transition period has yet to be determined by Immigration.

“The replacement of all old autogates will be carried out in stages,” he said.

On Jan 6, the Home Ministry announced that MyDigital ID would be implemented as a single login platform for Malaysians using the MyNIISe mobile application, beginning tomorrow (Jan 15).

According to the ministry, the use of MyDigital ID as a single login system forms part of the MyNIISe implementation initiative, aimed at accurately and securely verifying user identities through the National Registration Department database, without storing users’ personal data.

The MyNIISe application was first introduced on Sept 22 last year, at the country’s entry points at the Sultan Iskandar Building and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex in Johor Bahru, Johor, and will be expanded in stages to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2, as well as Bayan Lepas, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

As of Dec 30, MyNIISe had recorded 599,967 downloads, with 287,258 registered users.
