KUALA PILAH, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan is expected to increase investment inflows across various sectors to RM8 billion this year, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
He said this reflects continuous growth and investor confidence in the state’s economic prospects as a place to live, work, and enjoy recreational activities.
Aminuddin said that in line with the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), Negeri Sembilan continues to focus on further enhancing the state’s economic competitiveness.
“The main goal is to increase the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in a sustainable and inclusive manner by focusing on several key sectors with the potential to stimulate its economic growth,” he said in delivering his congratulatory message and pledge of allegiance in conjunction with the 78th birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, at Istana Besar Seri Menanti here today.
Also present was the Tunku Ampuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Aishah Rohani Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud.
Aminuddin said the initiative aims to establish industrial clusters specifically in the manufacturing sector through joint efforts and collaborative synergy among states to drive targeted investments.
He said the effort is also aligned with the 13MP (2026–2030), with the investment by Swedish engineering company Sandvik Equipment in Bandar Sendayan being listed among the biggest investments in Malaysia.
Aminuddin said focus is also being placed on the Special Tourism Investment Zone (STIZ) development, which serves as a catalyst for the creation of new tourism products such as those based on arts, culture and heritage, as well as ecotourism, in conjunction with the Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026 (TMNS 2026).
Meanwhile, Aminuddin also announced that Seremban is now entering the second phase of smart city development as part of a framework for creating a livable, competitive, and sustainable city.
He explained that this phase emphasises on the use of smart technology in traffic management, urban safety, municipal services, and more sustainable land-use planning.
“In the long term, the development of Seremban as a smart city will have a significant impact on the state in terms of attracting high-value investments, creating skilled employment opportunities, and improving the quality of life for the people,” he said.
