IPOH, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- The Perak state government through a strategic collaboration between Yayasan Perak and the Perak State Education Department (JPN), has allocated about RM2.3 million for the implementation of various education empowerment programmes throughout this year.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the collaborative approach between Yayasan Perak and Perak JPN has enabled education interventions to be planned in a more focused and effective manner at the school level.

He said that throughout last year, the strategic partnership saw the implementation of various education empowerment programmes that benefited tens of thousands of students from hundreds of schools statewide, involving the Learning Sector, Student Development Sector and Islamic Education Sector.

“Among the key initiatives is the Perak One Third High Programme, which involves 28,086 SPM 2025 candidates from 255 schools, with emphasis on academic interventions, support for students eligible for certification, as well as efforts to improve the SPM pass rate,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier, he witnessed a mock cheque handover ceremony between Yayasan Perak and Perak JPN held at the Foyer of the Perak Menteri Besar’s Office at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here today.

The mock cheque was handed over by Yayasan Perak general manager Dr Nasreen Khanum Nawab Zadah Khan to Perak State Education director Zulkafli Mohamed Mokhtar.

In addition to the main programmes involving candidates sitting for major examinations, Yayasan Perak and Perak JPN also implemented several other education empowerment initiatives, including the Propulih and Propulih 2.0 programmes, which have helped more than 3,600 students overcome basic literacy issues.

Also implemented were the Red Flag Risiko Cicir (RFRC) Programme, involving 7,555 at-risk students from 72 schools to reduce the risk of dropouts, and the Islamic Education Excellence Programme, which involved 26,363 students from 621 schools through the implementation of tuition programmes, excellence workshops and seminars to strengthen academic achievement and students’ character development.

Saarani said he was confident that the integrated and collaborative approach would not only enhance students’ academic performance, but also support holistic and sustainable human capital development towards realising the Perak Sejahtera 2030 aspiration.
