PHNOM PENH, Jan 16 (Bernama) -- A member of the Trans ASEAN Madani Convoy, which was involved in promoting Malaysian tourism, passed away due to health issues in Pattaya, Thailand, on Friday evening.
Mohd Nor Daud died from a heart attack at Pattaya Hospital around 7 pm (Malaysian time) after experiencing medical complications.
“He complained of chest pains and breathing difficulties and asked permission to fly back to Kuala Lumpur.
“But because of his health condition, he was admitted to the Pattaya Hospital on January 15 and I was informed he passed away this evening. It is saddening to lose a friend,” the convoy’s director, Datuk Abd Rahim Hashim, told Bernama from Kuala Lumpur.
The 68-year-old Malaysian was formerly attached to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
Rahim said the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok has been informed about the incident and preparations are being made to repatriate his body to Malaysia.
The convoy, comprising 38 participants, completed their three-nation tour — Thailand, Laos and Cambodia — to promote Visit Malaysia 2026.
The team members have returned to Malaysia today.
