KOTA BHARU, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- The Southeast Brigade of the General Operations Force (PGA) seized ketum leaves and water, with an estimated value of RM72,450, at two different locations yesterday.
Its commander, SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain, said the first seizure was carried out through Ops Mitra at a house in Kampung Hutan Kuin Hilir, Machang, at 12.45 pm.
"In the raid, 1,150 kilogrammes (kg) of ketum leaves and a Produa Alza car, with an estimated total seizure of RM61,000, were seized.
"A 29-year-old woman was also detained for further action, and the case is being investigated under Section 30 (3) of the Poisons Act 1952 and Section 108 (3)(F) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said in a statement today.
He said the second seizure was carried out at 3.30 pm by the Strike Force team of Company B, Battalion 7, through Ops Taring Wawasan at Jalan Bunohan, Tumpat.
"A search conducted on a Proton Iswara car found a bag containing 10 bottles of ketum water weighing 15 litres, estimated to be worth RM450. A 32-year-old male driver was also detained for investigation.
"We also seized the vehicle worth RM10,000 and a mobile phone with an estimated seizure of RM11,450," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 30 (3) of the Poisons Act 1952
