PUTRAJAYA LAUNCHES THREE DIGITAL INITIATIVES TO BOOST SMART CITY AGENDA

29/01/2026 01:25 PM

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- Three major digital initiatives were launched today to strengthen Putrajaya’s position as a smart and sustainable city, while advancing its digital transformation and community engagement agenda.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said the initiatives comprise the Putrajaya Tourism Website, the Putrajaya Mobile App and the Local Agenda 21 (LA21) Website.

She said the tourism website aims to promote Putrajaya as an urban, recreational and events destination, while the mobile app will serve as an integrated digital platform to improve public access to city information and services.

“The third initiative, the LA21 website, is designed to strengthen community participation and sustainable governance in line with the Sustainable Development Goals,” she told reporters after officiating the Putrajaya Open Day 2026 here today.

Commenting on the event, Hannah said the four-day Putrajaya Open Day 2026, which runs from today until Feb 1 at Dataran Putrajaya, features about 500 exhibitors from the public and private sectors.

The minister also encouraged the public, especially parents, to bring their children to the event, which includes a wide range of attractions such as Aidilfitri preparations, family-friendly activities, sales booths and a rare opportunity to see two elephants brought in from the National Elephant Conservation Centre in Kuala Gandah, Pahang.

“This year, the Wildlife and National Parks Department brought two elephants here. I even had the chance to feed an elephant for the first time. Many city residents have never had this experience, and we want to create that for children,” she said.

Hannah said the event is targeting 200,000 visitors this year, up from 50,000 last year.

Putrajaya Open Day 2026 features public sector services, large-scale tourism exhibitions, education and career programmes, family and recreational activities, creative showcases, food and beverage zones, and stage performances.

The event is held in conjunction with Federal Territory Day 2026 and the 30th anniversary of the Putrajaya Corporation, serving as a high-impact platform to strengthen ties between the government, industry and the public, while reinforcing Putrajaya’s role as a sustainable, tourist-friendly, safe and liveable administrative capital.
