JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 2 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has praised the Johor government for its continuous endeavour in upgrading heritage assets and strengthening the state's tourism attractions.

He said the efforts aligned with the aspirations of the Visit Johor 2026 (TMJ2026) campaign.

"These efforts also support the national agenda in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign in spurring the local economy, in addition to preserving the nation's identity and history,” he posted on Facebook.

Johor is targeting the arrival of 12 million tourists this year in conjunction with TMJ2026, with revenue expected to exceed RM42 billion for the state.

Earlier, Anwar and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, visited the Royal Abu Bakar Museum, housed at the Grand Palace of Johor.

The museum is a royal treasure trove, showcasing the historical and cultural heritage of the Sultanate of Johor that is of high value, in addition to the well-preserved and attractive landscape.

Anwar arrived in Johor Bahru yesterday on board the Electric Train Service 3 (ETS3) from the federal capital with his family members and had the opportunity to visit the Johor Zoo.
