KOTA TINGGI, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) will not compromise or cover up any integrity issues or misconduct involving its staff, said its chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
He said the agency would ensure that appropriate action is taken by the authorities against any individual found to have committed offences, including criminal breach of trust.
He said matters related to integrity, discipline and strict adherence to good governance have always been emphasised by MARA.
“We will not compromise. That is why we have never covered up or swept integrity and misconduct issues under the carpet.
“That is why, if it involves criminal breach of trust related to money and the like, we will lodge reports with the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) ourselves, and let the courts decide,” he told reporters after the launch of the Logistics Learning Provider (LLP) initiative at Kolej Professional MARA Bandar Penawar here today.
Responding to questions on MARA’s efforts to curb integrity issues involving its staff, Asyraf Wajdi said their employees had always been reminded to practice its 3iP work culture comprising Integriti, Ihsan and Inovatif (Integrity, Compassion and Innovative).
He said the culture must go hand in hand with a high level of professionalism among staff, including compliance with established governance standards.
“Of course, as humans we are not perfect, but that does not become an excuse for us to tolerate or legitimise any misconduct that occurs,” he said.
On Jan 19, a former MARA assistant officer was charged with criminal breach of trust involving money deposited into her account for the purpose of making MARA loan repayments under several financing schemes, before allegedly misappropriating the funds for personal use.
The 40-year-old woman pleaded not guilty at the Muar Sessions Court to 25 charges of criminal breach of trust involving RM15,839.66 belonging to four individuals related to the loan repayments.
