COLLEGE STUDENT KILLED IN THREE-VEHICLE CRASH IN ALOR GAJAH

ALOR GAJAH, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- A college student was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a three-vehicle crash on Jalan Bukit Tambun, Durian Tunggal, here today.

Alor Gajah district police chief Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said in the incident at about 7.45 am, the 20-year-old victim sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at Melaka Hospital.

“Initial investigations found that the Honda motorcycle ridden by the student was travelling from Sungai Udang to Selandar Community College before crashing into the rear right side of a Honda City driven by a 48-year-old woman.

“As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was thrown into the opposite lane before being hit by a trailer driven by a 49-year-old man,” he said in a statement.

Ahmad said the collision caused the student’s motorcycle to suffer severe damage and the seriously injured victim was rushed to Melaka Hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and members of the public with information related to the incident are requested to contact the investigating officer, Insp Nurul Salina Rosli, at 011-2543 5507 to assist in the investigation.
