EXCITING ACTIVITIES AWAIT VISITORS AT SAFER INTERNET DAY 2026 TOMORROW

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- The celebration of Safer Internet Day (SID) 2026, which will take place at Astaka Taman Tasik Titiwangsa tomorrow, promises a wide array of exciting activities and programmes for visitors.

Organised by the Ministry of Communications and led by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the event highlights the importance of making smart digital choices while utilising technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in line with the rapid developments of today’s digital landscape.

Carrying the theme “Smart Technology, Safe Choices: Safe and Responsible Use of AI,” the event will begin as early as 7:30 am with the Safer Internet Day ExploRace.

The programme will continue with a sharing session by Meta regarding Meta Teen Accounts, parental control tools, and the latest security features.

Furthermore, TikTok and Google are scheduled to share input on online safety features and the steps to activate parental controls to ensure a safer digital environment for children and teenagers.

The celebration will be officially officiated by the Minister of Communications, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who will subsequently launch the 2026 Safe Internet Campaign at approximately 10:30 am.

Interesting content prepared for visitors includes busker performances, casual talk sessions, e-sports activities, technology exhibitions, and booths by the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) which will provide special interactive sessions on how to protect oneself from phishing threats and online scams.

In addition to the prize-giving ceremony for the SID 2026 Video Competition, tomorrow's celebration will be enlivened by a mini-concert featuring popular artists like Kaka Azraff, Insomniacks, Kmy Kmo, Luca Sickta, Ismail Izzani, and Leaism.

MCMC will also provide technical teams and experts to assist visitors directly in setting up security features on their respective devices, including the use of parental control applications.

The public will also have the opportunity to participate in the "Safe Internet, Everyone's Responsibility" forum starting at 2:00 pm, moderated by Ariz Ramli, better known as Caprice.

The forum features a panel including SAC Siti Kamsiah Hassan, Assistant Director of the Sexual, Women, and Child Investigations Division (D11) of the PDRM Criminal Investigation Department; SUHAKAM Children’s Commissioner, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Al Adib; and the Founder of MN Amplified Marketing, Muhammad Noor or Madnor.

SID 2026 is held in conjunction with International Safer Internet Day, which is celebrated annually in more than 170 countries to promote safe, responsible, and positive internet use, particularly among children and young people.
