CAMBODIA 

1. FUNAN CANAL TO MANAGE WATER SYSTEMS -- FRESH NEWS 

The Funan Techo Canal Project will not create any hostility between Cambodia and Vietnam. It is intended for flood control, water conservation and effective water flow management to support agriculture and irrigation.

 

2. FREE HEART SURGERY FOR CHILDREN -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE 

A free surgery project for children with congenital heart disease was launched on Sunday at the National Paediatric Hospital in Phnom Penh. The project will provide lifesaving cardiac operations at no cost.

 

MYANMAR 

1. PLANS TO EXPORT BIRD NEST PRODUCTS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

The Myanmar Swiftlet Nest Farming Association is planning to export  bird nest products. More bird breeders and edible organic bird nest producers are now venturing into the sector across the country. 

 

2. SEAFOOD EXPORTS ON THE RISE -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Seafood exports amounted to nearly RM3 billion (US$725 million) last year and exporters are confident of surpassing the figure this year. Boiled white shrimp are shipped out to China and frozen shrimps to Japan.

The Philippines’ provincial government of Albay and several local government units in Catanduanes have suspended face-to-face classes on Monday due to heavy rains brought by a shear line and a gale warning.
