SHAH ALAM, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Selangor is prepared to share its experience and provide support to Kelantan regarding the planning and organisation of the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) ahead of the 2028 edition, ensuring more organised early preparations.

State Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship Exco Mohd Najwan Halimi said that sharing experience at the state level is crucial to guaranteeing the quality of the sporting event, which will have spanned over twenty editions by the time it reaches Kelantan.

“We have a Selangor Secretariat currently executing various plans for the hosting of SUKMA in this state, and we are ready to assist Kelantan in the necessary areas.

“In fact, we welcome officers from the Kelantan SUKMA Secretariat to be attached to the Selangor Secretariat to gain early experience and understand the overall implementation process,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier today, Mohd Najwan, who is also the Chairman of the Selangor SUKMA Organising Committee, led a delegation from the 22nd SUKMA and Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 Secretariat to the Kelantan State Government office.

The delegation was received by Kelantan Youth, Sports, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO), and Community Unity Exco Zamakhshari Muhamad, Kelantan SUKMA Secretariat CEO Datuk Azi Rahimee Mohamed, and Kelantan SUKMA Secretariat COO Muhammed Imran Mansoor.

Mohd Najwan said that the meeting emphasised the importance of early coordination and the sharing of organisational strategies to ensure preparations run smoothly and to minimise potential issues during the actual event.

Meanwhile, Zamakhshari said the meeting allowed both parties to directly exchange views and information regarding the preparations and execution of SUKMA 2026 and 2028.

Selangor is set to host the 22nd edition of SUKMA, scheduled to run from August 15 to 24, featuring 474 events across 37 types of sports.

As for the Selangor Para SUKMA, a total of 316 events from 10 types of sports will be contested, making the overall organisation more vibrant and inclusive for both athletes and spectators.
