JAKARTA, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- Indonesia has pledged its readiness to contribute further to peace efforts in Gaza, Palestine, including the possible deployment of peacekeeping forces, ahead of an inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP) in Washington, United States, this week.

According to the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, the commitment was conveyed by Foreign Minister Sugiono during a bilateral meeting with the Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations (UN), Riyad Mansour at the Palestine Mission Office in New York, on Monday.

“We are ready to contribute further, including preparing for the possible deployment of peacekeeping forces to Gaza, which could begin with health assistance and reconstruction,” he was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the ministry on Tuesday.

At the meeting, Sugiono also reaffirmed Indonesia’s support for Palestine and its firm commitment to promoting the realisation of a just and sustainable peace.

“Indonesia also emphasised the importance of ensuring the realisation of the two-state solution,” the statement said.

The ministry said both Sugiono and Mansour also exchanged views on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025), particularly regarding the establishment of the BoP and the planned deployment of an International Stabilisation Force (ISF) in Gaza.

In the statement, Sugiono also clarified Indonesia’s participation in the BoP and President Prabowo Subianto’s scheduled attendance at the meeting.

“The participation of the President of Indonesia aims to ensure that every decision taken is in line with the UN Charter and existing multilateral efforts, in order to pave the way for a just and sustainable peace,” Sugiono said.
