MAKKAH, Feb 20  (Bernama-SPA) -- The Grand Mosque in Makkah witnessed a massive influx of worshippers during the first Friday prayer of Ramadan, as devotees from across the world filled its corridors and courtyards from early morning, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

To accommodate the crowds, comprehensive organisational measures were implemented, focusing on seamless crowd management, sanitisation, and guidance services.

These field efforts ensured a smooth flow of movement, allowing worshippers to perform their rites with ease.

The spiritual gathering reaffirmed the Grand Mosque’s role as the unifying heart of the Muslim world and highlighted the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to providing visitors to Makkah with an exceptional and tranquil experience.

Meanwhile, the Grand Mosque Imam Sheikh Abdullah Al-Juhani in his Friday sermon reminded worshippers that the lives of Prophet Muhammad and his companions during Ramadan were defined by active devotion and good deeds.

He emphasised that the divine purpose of fasting is to attain piety and safeguard one’s character from forbidden acts.

Sheikh Al-Juhani also urged Muslims to adhere to Prophetic etiquette, highlighting the importance of hastening the breaking of the fast at iftar and delaying the pre-dawn meal, suhoor.

He concluded by calling on the faithful to seize this blessed season through diligent worship and righteous deeds, noting that Ramadan is a unique period when supplications are answered and divine mercy abounds.
