ROS REFUTES ABUSE OF POWER ALLEGATIONS BY MIPP

20/02/2026 08:55 PM

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 20 (Bernama) -- The Registrar of Societies Malaysia (ROS) has stressed that it does not intervene in the internal affairs of any political party or registered organisation.

In a statement today, ROS said that any internal disputes are the responsibility of the organisations themselves and should be resolved in accordance with their respective constitutions.

“Accordingly, the ROS refutes allegations by the Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) of misconduct regarding the department’s decision on the organisation’s internal issues.

“All decisions are made strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Societies Act 1966, the organisation’s constitution and the applicable administrative procedures, as well as thorough scrutiny of the documents and representations submitted,” it said.

The ROS emphasised that any allegations of abuse of power or undue influence are unfounded and affirmed its willingness to fully cooperate with the authorities if required.

Yesterday, the media reported that MIPP founder S Santharasekaran had filed a complaint with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission against ROS director-general Datuk Mohd Zulfikar Ahmad over alleged abuse of power involving the issuance of conflicting letters related to the party.

However, Mohd Zulfikar was reported today as denying the allegations, saying that the ROS’ actions were based on the results of investigations and the evidence submitted to the department.
