SULTAN NAZRIN RECEIVES RM7.87 MILLION IN TITHE CONTRIBUTIONS

IPOH, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, consented to receive tithe contributions amounting to RM7.87 million from seven corporate entities and one individual for Zakat Perak Al-Ridzuan (ZAPAR) at Istana Iskandariah, Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar, last night.

In a statement, ZAPAR said the presentation of the tithe contributions was led by Jakel Ipoh, represented by Jakel Group Chief Operating Officer Datuk Mohamed Nizam Mohamed Jakel, amounting to RM300,000.

This was followed by Koperasi Anggota Kerajaan Ipoh Berhad, represented by its chairman Mohd Hasrizad Zaman, contributing RM1,046,469.

Menteri Besar Incorporated, represented by its Chief Executive Officer Datuk Anuar Zainal Abidin, contributed RM1 million, while the Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation, represented by its Chief Executive Officer Mohd Azhar Mohd Yusof, handed over RM4,553,453.46.

The Perbadanan Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri Perak, represented by its Chief Executive Officer Zulkefli Abdullah, contributed RM900,000, and the Royale College of Medicine Perak, represented by its Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof Dr Syed Rahim Syed Hamid, presented RM256,769.

In addition, SS Trend Trading, represented by its founder Muhamad Syafi Md Sayuti, contributed RM159,999. The final contribution comprised zakat on income and savings amounting to RM600,000 from Datuk Dr Zakaria A. Kadir.

According to the statement, Sultan Nazrin subsequently consented to present the zakat contributions to the President of the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council, Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini.

“Zakat serves as a mechanism for equitable wealth distribution and a catalyst for social well-being. It is not merely an obligation, but an instrument for the development of the ummah, capable of empowering the economy of society as a whole,” read the statement.
