KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 (Bernama) -- Maxis Bhd has been awarded the title of “Network Transformation Icon-Performance” by international telecommunications publication The Fast Mode in its 2025 awards programme.
In a statement today, the telecommunications company said that the acknowledgement underscores the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance its network infrastructure, reinforcing its commitment to providing fast, reliable, and secure connectivity for all Malaysians.
“The accolade recognises the modernisation of Maxis’ Evolved Packet Core (EPC), which manages all data traffic between user devices and external networks.
“This migration to a cloud-native, modular architecture provides a flexible design that eliminates single points of failure,” it said.
It said that the upgraded infrastructure supports automated capabilities to enhance the network experience, and includes in-service software upgrades, real-time resource scaling, and over-the-top (OTT) application prioritisation to manage traffic demands effectively.
“This transformation has resulted in a more scalable and resilient core network, enabling service upgrades and rollouts without interrupting connectivity. This ensures consistent network reliability and a more robust user experience,” it said.
Maxis chief network officer Yap Chee Sun said the company is honoured by this recognition, which serves as motivation to continue improving its network as demand for digital services grows.
“In line with our belief that ‘Tomorrow Begins Today’, we remain committed to delivering a consistent and reliable network, connecting the moments that matter for people, businesses, and the nation,” he said.
Maxis said that the modernised core also features open application programming interface (API) integration, enabling Maxis to collaborate with third-party providers to develop new digital services across various industries.
The Fast Mode Awards 2025 were presented at a ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur recently, selected from over 300 nominations reviewed by a panel of global industry experts.
“Specifically, the ‘Performance’ category evaluates a telecommunications company’s success in executing complex network programmes, including strength in strategy, planning, and technical expertise,” it said.
