KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has emphasised that the availability of essential goods and price stability must be guaranteed nationwide during Ramadan and leading up to Syawal, leaving no room for compromise.
According to the Prime Minister’s Senior Press Secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, Anwar stressed this to protect the people from excessive living costs during this period, when demand for daily necessities typically rises significantly.
He said the Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) to intensify continuous monitoring under Ops Pantau 2026.
“The Prime Minister also wants food prices at Ramadan bazaars nationwide to be closely supervised to ensure they remain reasonable and affordable.
“He further emphasised that business premises must meet hygiene standards, supported by proper facilities provided by local authorities,” Tunku Nashrul said during a live broadcast of the PMO daily briefing on Anwar Ibrahim’s and PMO Malaysia’s Facebook pages today.
In addition, Tunku Nashrul noted that the MADANI Rahmah Sales Programme will continue throughout Ramadan to provide Malaysians with access to essential goods at lower prices.
“The MADANI government is committed to ensuring that this year’s Ramadan and Syawal celebrations are meaningful for all Malaysians, without the burden of excessive living costs,” he added.
