ACTRESS’ HUSBAND CHARGED WITH CHEATING OVER STATE LAND, DATUK TITLE

SEREMBAN, March 11 (Bernama) -- The husband of an actress pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to a charge of cheating a man of RM270,811 over a non-existent alienated state land last year.

Mohd Apri Hazreen Mohd Aziz, 41, entered the plea after the charge was read out to him before Judge Mohamad Kamil Nizam.

According to the charge, Mohd Apri Hazreen was alleged to have deceived the 56-year-old victim into transferring RM270,811 into the bank account of a 35-year-old woman at a bank here between April 2 and Nov 12, 2025.

The payment was purportedly for a non-existent alienated land in Selangor, an amount the victim would not have surrendered had he not been deceived.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nadia Ezzati Mohamad Zainal offered bail at RM50,000 with one surety, on the condition that the surety is not the accused's wife. Additional conditions included surrendering his passport to the court, a prohibition against tampering with witnesses, and reporting to the nearest police station once a month.

Mohd Apri Hazreen, who was unrepresented, pleaded for minimum bail, citing chronic health issues, including heart disease and diabetes. He also informed the court that he supports nine children, an unemployed wife, and his mother.

Meanwhile, in the Magistrate’s Court, the accused also pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Nurul Saqinah Rosli to a separate charge of deceiving a 49-year-old man of RM23,120 regarding a non-existent Datuk title.

The offence was allegedly committed between Jan 22 and Nov 9, 2025, at an office in Seremban 2.

Mohd Apri Hazreen was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a minimum jail term of one year and a maximum of 10 years, with whipping and a fine, upon conviction.

The Sessions Court fixed bail at RM25,000 with the conditions requested by the prosecution, while the Magistrate’s Court set bail at RM3,000.

Both courts fixed April 15 for mention.
