ISTANBUL, March 11 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- A son of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian denied media reports Wednesday that the country’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, was injured in a US-Israeli airstrike, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.

“I heard news that Agha Mojtaba was injured. I asked friends who had contact with him. They said he is in good health and there is no problem,” Yousef Pezeshkian wrote on his Telegram channel.

The New York Times earlier reported that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured in his legs on the opening days of the US-Israeli war on Iran.

He was declared the successor of his father, Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a US-Israeli airstrike on Feb 28.

More than 1,200 people have been killed and over 10,000 others injured in Iran since the US and Israel staged a joint attack on Feb 28, according to Iranian authorities.

Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
