MBSB BANK DONATES RM85,000 TO SUPPORT B40 STUDENTS AT SARAWAK SKILLS

KUCHING, March 14 (Bernama) -- MBSB Bank Berhad has contributed RM85,000 to support 340 Muslim students from underprivileged B40 families under the Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions.

Sarawak Skills said in a statement today that the contribution, part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, aims to assist students from low-income backgrounds and ease their financial burden while they pursue Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

“Under the initiative, each student will receive RM250 in financial assistance, benefiting students from several institutions within the Sarawak Skills group.

“The recipients are from Sarawak Skills Kuching (155 students), the Automotive and Welding Institute of Sarawak (44), Sarawak Skills Sri Aman (16), Sarawak Skills (46), Sarawak Skills Bintulu (one), Sarawak Skills Miri (62) and Sarawak Agriculture and Vocational Training Institute (16),” it said.

Earlier, the mock cheque was presented by MBSB Bank Sarawak regional director Hawina Abang Hipni to Sarawak Skills executive director Hallman Sabri during a ceremony held at Sarawak Skills Kuching. 

According to the statement, Hallman expressed appreciation to MBSB Bank for the contribution, saying it would greatly benefit students from B40 families by helping to ease their financial burden and allowing them to focus on their studies and skills development.

He said such initiatives highlight the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and industry partners in nurturing a skilled and competent workforce.
