PUTRAJAYA, March 24 (Bernama) -- Muslims have been urged to perform Solat Sunat Istisqa’ (prayers for rain) following the ongoing hot and dry weather sweeping across the country.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Dr Zulkifli Hasan, said the prayers should be observed continuously as a sign of repentance and reliance on Allah SWT.
“It is also to pray that all difficulties resulting from the current weather conditions may be eased.
“May all prayers and supplications be accepted and answered by Allah SWT, granting rain that brings goodness to all,” he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad reportedly said that 15 heat-related cases had been reported so far this year, including three cases of heatstroke and one death involving a child left in a vehicle.
He said the current extreme heat required everyone to be more vigilant, including monitoring early signs of heatstroke such as prolonged dizziness, unusual thirst and rising body temperature.
