KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- Journalists nationwide are invited by the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) to take part in a creative writing call themed “Behind the Scenes of a Journalist’s Career”, aimed at capturing real-life experiences in the profession.
The MPI secretariat said the initiative seeks to document the diverse stories, challenges and defining moments encountered by media practitioners throughout their careers, while recognising their contributions to the industry and society.
“A total of 25 selected works will be published in a special book scheduled for launch at the Malaysian Journalism Night 2026, as part of efforts to preserve the experiences and contributions of journalists.
“Selected writers will also receive certificates and commemorative tokens during the event,” the secretariat said when contacted today.
Among the entry requirements are that the work must be original, unpublished and approximately 3,000 words in length. Entries must also include relevant, previously unpublished photographs, it said.
MPI also expressed hope that media organisations will help disseminate the call among their journalists to encourage wider participation.
Submissions can be emailed to press2mpi@gmail.com starting today, with the deadline set for May 8.
