UP TO EACH PUBLIC UNIVERSITY TO DECIDE ON CONDUCTING ONLINE PDP - ZAMBRY

30/03/2026 07:16 PM

KUALA NERUS, March 30 (Bernama) -- Public institutions of higher learning are allowed to decide individually on measures to tackle the continuous hot weather, including conducting online teaching and learning (PdP).

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said that there has yet to be any complaints about the hot weather by any university, but the ministry has adopted a flexible approach and is giving freedom to each university to make their own decision.

“This is because the situation in each campus is different. So university administration can take their own steps to conduct online learning.

“For instance, previously during the COVID-19 pandemic and also during the flooding season, universities made the decision to allow students to take their courses online… but it only involved curriculum that didn’t require physical attendance,” he told reporters after attending a gathering with university students at Dewan Perdana, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) here today.

MetMalaysia has previously reported that the current hot weather spell is expected to continue till the start of the Southwest Monsoon season in June due to drier atmospheric conditions and low rainfall.
