PUTRAJAYA, April 1 (Bernama) -- A total of 22 clients of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) passed all subjects they sat for in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
Its director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said they were among 27 AADK clients who sat for the examination, while undergoing the Institutional Treatment and Rehabilitation (RPDI) programme at Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centres (PUSPEN), last year.
He said 20 of the candidates were from PUSPEN Karangan in Kedah, six from PUSPEN Papar in Sabah, and one from PUSPEN Sungai Besi in Kuala Lumpur.
“All these clients are currently undergoing the RPDI programme at the respective centres, which offer a special module, known as the Client Education Access Programme (PAPK), particularly for clients under the age of 18, as a second chance in education.
“Through the PAPK programme, all eligible clients follow a structured class schedule, and are taught by experienced teachers, with additional support from educators from the District Education Office,” he said in a statement today.
Ruslin said that AADK clients sat for six subjects, namely Bahasa Melayu, English, Science, Mathematics, History, and Islamic Education or Moral Education.
Commenting on the PAPK programme, he said it aims to help AADK clients obtain formal education, which can secure their future by providing opportunities to pursue studies at a higher level.
“This effort is intended to give clients the opportunity to improve themselves academically, and obtain skills certification through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses, which can help them rebuild their lives while sustaining lifelong recovery.
“In addition, PAPK serves as a turning point in changing the perception that dropping out of school means that there is no opportunity for a second chance,” he said.
