HAJIJI CHAIRS FIRST GRS SUPREME COUNCIL MEETING SINCE STATE ASSEMBLY DISSOLUTION

KOTA KINABALU, Oct 7 -- Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor today chaired a meeting of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah's (GRS) Supreme Council, the coalition's first since the dissolution of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly yesterday.

In a statement, the Sabah Chief Minister’s Department said the meeting, held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), was also the first since Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) ceased to be part of GRS.

Among those present were Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) acting president Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, United Sabah National Organisation (USNO) president Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Datuk Chin Su Phin.

Also in attendance were Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) president Tan Sri Anifah Aman, Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan Rakyat) deputy president Rina Jainal and Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) deputy president Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

The meeting also saw the attendance of Star deputy president Datuk Ellron Alfred Angin, who announced that he and four other assemblymen from his party would remain with GRS.

Yesterday, Hajiji, who is also GRS chairman, announced the dissolution of the 16th Sabah State Legislative Assembly at Menara Kinabalu here, after receiving the consent of Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman.
