BUTTERWORTH, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) is finalising the number of candidates who will contest in the Sabah state election (PRN) next month, said Vice President Adly Zahari.
He said the party has already listed several candidates to contest, but negotiations are still ongoing among component parties within Pakatan Harapan (PH), including the allocation of seats.
"Indeed, we (Amanah), through PH, are cooperating with friends from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and also Barisan Nasional (BN) in holding negotiations (on seat division)," he said.
Adly, who is also Deputy Defence Minister, spoke to reporters after the Graduation Ceremony and Launch of the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) Wira Entrepreneur Empowerment Programme at the Butterworth Air Base here, today.
Adly, however, did not disclose the number of seats Amanah will contest, but confirmed that the candidates are local people and have close ties with the community.
Yesterday, the Election Commission (EC) set Nov 29 as the polling day for the Sabah state election, while the nomination date is set for Nov 15 and the early voting date for Nov 25.
The Sabah State Legislative Assembly has 79 seats, with 73 of them being contested, while the other six are appointed State Assemblymen (ADUN).
