STOP MAKING EMPTY PROMISES, PEOPLE WANT SOLUTIONS - HAJIJI

19/10/2025 06:51 PM

KOTA KINABALU, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has urged the opposition to stop making empty promises ahead of the state election, saying the people of Sabah want real solutions, not political rhetoric.

Describing the opposition’s behaviour as that of ‘snake oil salesmen’ — claiming they can resolve Sabah’s water problems within a year or produce 50,000 engineers in a short time — he said such promises were unrealistic.

“Enough with the snake oil salesmanship. Stop peddling illusions that only deceive the people, who are genuinely yearning for real solutions and a better life. Don’t be like political shamans, full of promises yet delivering nothing.

“The people are now wiser and can discern who is truly capable of governing Sabah well, and who merely thrives on rhetoric and empty promises,” said the Sabah Chief Minister when launching the party machinery here today.

Also present were acting Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, United Sabah National Organisation (USNO) president Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, Parti Cinta Sabah president Tan Sri Anifah Aman, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Datuk Chin Su Phin, and Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah president Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah.

Hajiji said the GRS government has proven its capability and efficiency in steering the state towards impressive achievements over the past five years through the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development framework.

The Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah president said the state government has recorded its highest-ever revenue, with robust growth in the industrial, tourism and agricultural sectors, while strengthening various education and human capital development initiatives.

On infrastructure development, he said the state government is implementing 18 water projects across Sabah to ensure a stable supply of treated water, including treatment plant projects in Tawau and Papar.

Hajiji also said that GRS is confident of securing victory in the election but urged party machinery in all 73 state constituencies to work hard towards that goal.

On seat distribution, he said all matters have been resolved amicably with component parties and partners.
