KOTA KINABALU, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- A total of 3,000 Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) field team members are on standby to carry out door-to-door and grassroots engagement in constituencies the party will contest in the 17th Sabah State Election.
PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the party machinery had already been actively working on the ground since May, and by September, had reached out to more than 200,000 Sabah residents, most of whom expressed support for the Unity Government and PKR in the coming state polls.
“These field teams do not only meet among themselves, but also reach out to the people to find and identify the sentiments of the community, their interests and their priorities,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the PKR Public Assembly and Sabah State Election Candidate Announcement Session here tonight, officiated by PKR chairman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Also present were the party’s deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar, vice-president Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh, information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzli, and Sabah State Leadership Council chairman Datuk Mustafa Sakmud.
At the event, Anwar announced 10 candidates from the party who would be contesting in the state election.
