SILAM BN CANDIDATE MANIFESTO: TO INCREASE TVET INSTITUTIONS IN LAHAD DATU

19/11/2025 09:43 PM

LAHAD DATU, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Silam state seat, Sharif Musa Sharif Mabul wants to increase the number of educational institutions based on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Lahad Datu if given the mandate in the 17th Sabah state election.

Sharif Musa said the proposal was among his manifesto which wanted Lahad Datu to have technical education institutions such as polytechnics, Mara Skills Institute (IKM), Industrial Training Institute (ILP) as well as MARA Junior Science College (MRSM).

Sharif Musa, who is also the chairman of Giatmara Lahad Datu Advisory, said the effort was in line with the national education policy which also places emphasis on TVET education.

"We know that many of our children do not reach university level or are lazy to study. We have an opportunity for these children, enroll them in TVET so that their future is guaranteed," he told Bernama after attending a women's empowerment programme here today.

Sharif Musa also aims to produce 500 TVET graduates of various streams per year through the empowerment of the education stream in Lahad Datu.

Using the slogan "Silam Maju Dan Indah Tanpa Sampah", Sharif Musa also wants to overcome the problem of garbage and unpleasant odours caused by garbage problems to provide comfort to the residents of Silam and the people of Lahad Datu in general.

Sharif Musa also plans to make the Lahad Datu Esplanade a famous seafood hub in Sabah.

The Election Commission (EC) has set Nov 29 as polling day, while Nov 25 as early voting day.
