LAHAD DATU, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan (PH) uses a more mature campaigning approach, based on facts and virtues, in the 17th Sabah state election and rejects slanderous politicking.
PH candidate for Segama state seat, Romansa Lamin said such an approach allows voters to choose candidates based on their capabilities, arguments, manifesto and vision of development.
Also, the presence of PH in the constituency after 13 years is a breath of fresh air for constituents to choose a representative who is close to the local community and can work directly with the Federal and state governments.
“The candidate from this constituency needs to bring the voters’ voices with a heart and soul that are close to this area. This is important as the assemblyman must be able to convey the needs of the people directly to the party president of the federal leadership.
“For instance, the issue of water villages that require replacements for boards and rotting structures. Many things require immediate attention,” he told reporters after meeting the community here today.
Romansa said good ties between the state and federal governments would ensure allocations and projects are implemented transparently and responsibly.
“The government can announce projects and allocations, but the important thing is their implementation. This is the hope of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to ensure funds are used responsibly and reach the public,” he said, as he dismissed claims that he was not from Segama.
“I was born in Tawau, but my ancestors are from Segama. I’ve served over 30 years in Lahad Datu, Segama is very close to my heart and I want to serve the people here,” he said.
A total of 29,840 voters will cast their votes in Segama on Nov 29, with early voting taking place on Nov 25.
