KOTA KINABALU, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) is picking up momentum after a week of campaigning for the 17th Sabah state election, thanks to early preparations in focus areas.
Sabah PKR chairman Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said even though the second week of campaigning has just begun, the PH machinery has been active for the last three to four months, working to ensure each candidate is fully prepared at the grassroots level.
“Alhamdulillah the truth is we have been campaigning more than a week. I think three, four months ago we have already mobilised in our focused constituencies.
“This week, in terms of campaigning, we are getting better in terms of the reports we receive, the performance of our candidates are improving,” he told reporters after launching the PH manifesto entitled ‘Sabah Pakatan Harapan’s Commitments’ here today, together with Sabah DAP chairman Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe and Sabah Amanah chairman Datuk Lahirul Latigu.
He was also confident that the explanations on the manifesto would boost support, especially from undecided voters, who he said would decide the future of the state.
“So we hope that by explaining our commitments today, more undecided voters will choose us as this is their future, especially youth.
“We ask that they study the commitments and hope they will give our candidates - PH candidates - a chance, for them to be their representatives at the state assembly and also a part of the state Cabinet, for us to shape policies that we’ve outlined,” Mustapha added.
PH is contesting 21 out of 73 state seats in this election, with PKR contesting 12, DAP eight, and Amanah one seat.
Sabah voters will cast their ballots on Nov 29, with early voting taking place on Nov 25.
