JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- Johor UMNO will bring forward the agenda of state development, unity, and internal party strengthening, as well as consolidation of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, at the 2025 UMNO General Assembly.
State UMNO Liaison secretary Datuk Abdul Halim Suleiman said the focus reflects grassroots aspirations that emphasise the need to reinforce UMNO as a dominant and stable force in the country’s political landscape.
“Johor UMNO’s main emphasis is on strengthening the party from within, reinforcing UMNO as a whole, and enhancing cooperation within the BN team, while ensuring that the development and unity agenda remains a priority,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
He added that economic and education-related issues were also among the key policy matters raised by Johor delegates to be elevated to the national level.
A total of 390 Johor UMNO delegates will attend the 2025 UMNO General Assembly.
In preparation for the assembly next week, UMNO received 662 motions from 175 divisions nationwide, with none proposing that the party withdraw from the Unity Government.
The simultaneous opening of the Women’s, Youth and Puteri General Assemblies is scheduled for Jan 14 at Merdeka Hall, followed by the respective wing conferences the next day.
The UMNO General Assembly will officially commence on Jan 16 with a flag-raising ceremony, followed by the UMNO president’s policy speech and debate sessions.
