PH NEEDS NOT EXPLOIT OTHER PARTIES' PROBLEMS IN FACING ELECTIONS

18/02/2026 04:29 PM

MELAKA, Feb 18 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan (PH) will not exploit the weaknesses or internal problems of other parties in facing the upcoming state and general elections.

Melaka PKR strategy director Mohd Radzmin Roslan said that although situations affecting the opposing parties might provide a slight advantage in terms of perception and support, true success still depends on the internal strength of the party and its ability to offer the best service to the people.

"Division within or problems from other parties may have a slight impact, but we cannot rely on that. The foundation of our strength is our work on the ground and unity within the party.

"Therefore, we need to go down to the ground, listen to the grassroots' voices and understand the people's needs. From that, we build confidence to gain votes," he said to the media at the Melaka Media Appreciation Event in Klebang here today.

He said the main focus at the moment is to strengthen unity among PH component parties, streamline the election machinery, and ensure that seat negotiations are conducted maturely and prudently at the leadership level.

Commenting on the campaign strategy, Mohd Radzmin, who is also the secretary of the PKR Tangga Batu branch, said that PH will emphasise an approach based on people's issues, particularly involving the cost of living, job opportunities and welfare of the local community.

Additionally, he said that young voters and fence-sitters have been identified as the main target groups in the strategy for facing the upcoming state and general elections.

"Young voters, including the Undi 18 group, are an important segment. We need to approach them with a fresher approach and a clear message. Similarly, the fence-sitting voters who assess us based on our performance and sincerity in working," he said.

The five-year term of the Melaka state assembly ends in December.
