KUCHING, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- Twenty villages with over 2,000 residents benefitted from various initiatives offered under the Takaful Masuk Kampung (TMK) Carnival programme, held at the Kampung Semariang Batu Community Hall today.

Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) chief executive officer Mohd Radzuan Mohamed explained that these initiatives aim to raise awareness, provide guidance, and educate the community on financial management while highlighting the importance of Takaful protection.

"This programme also helps communities stay informed about current issues, such as financial scams and credit management. In addition to a communal feast today, we are running a financial literacy programme that will encourage better money management," he said during his speech at the carnival.

Now in its sixth year, the TMK programme is part of MTA’s broader effort to promote a deeper understanding of financial protection, consistent with Islamic finance principles.

He explained that the carnival initiates the Sarawak State Tour, which will take place at various locations throughout the state.

"In partnership with the Credit Counseling and Management Agency, MTA will be in Lundu from Nov 14 to 16, engaging vocational college students from across Sarawak in the Financial Literacy course.

"The highlight will be from Nov 15 to 17 at Viva City Mall, Kuching, where we will collaborate with Bank Negara Malaysia for the Financial Literacy Carnival, offering a range of engaging events," he said.

The TMK programme in Sarawak was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who also serves as Petra Jaya member of parliament.

It is supported by Takaful providers, such as Etiqa General Takaful Berhad, Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad, Great Eastern Takaful Berhad, Takaful IKHLAS Berhad, Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Berhad, and MySalam.

MTA and industry representatives also gathered in Sarawak to form the Sarawak Chapter to launch Hijrah27, a strategic transformation plan aimed at fostering sustainable, inclusive, and comprehensive growth within the Takaful industry, aligning with the future goals of the sector.
