IPOH, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- A worker was crushed to death by falling rocks at a quarry in Manjung near Lumut yesterday.

The Perak Occupational Safety and Health Department (DOSH) in a statement today, said the 35-year-old local man died at the scene in the 4.45 pm incident.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was operating a crawler-type excavator while his colleague was using another excavator nearby. The victim was struck by quarry stones that fell from a slope adjacent to where he was working," read the statement.

The statement added that an immediate stop-work order had been issued at the quarry site until the investigation is completed.

Perak DOSH will take legal action against the responsible parties if any violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 are found.
