JOHOR ALLOCATES RM2 MILLION TO UPGRADE THREE HEALTH CLINICS

JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- The Johor government has allocated RM2 million to improve facilities at three health clinics (KK) facing issues of outdated infrastructure and overcrowding.

Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, said this short-term funding will benefit Gelang Patah Health Clinic in Iskandar Puteri, as well as Majidee and Tebrau Health Clinics here.

“Following my visit to KK Gelang Patah, I held discussions with relevant stakeholders to address the pressing issues of outdated and overcrowded facilities at these three clinics.

"We discussed various concerns and outlined phased solutions. For the short term, the state government has allocated RM2 million to upgrade the clinics’ facilities,” he said in a Facebook post today.

The funding will go towards new seating in waiting areas, desks and chairs for medical staff, ultrasound machines, air conditioners, wall fans, computers, printers and ambulances.

Onn Hafiz also announced a further RM1 million allocation from the state government for medium-term measures, including relocating the Maternal & Child Health Clinic from KK Gelang Patah to a separate location to better serve the growing population.

The Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) has allocated an additional RM1 million to expand public parking facilities at KK Gelang Patah.

For the long term, the state’s plans include constructing new clinics in Gelang Patah, Majidee and Kulai, with land already earmarked for these projects.

The Menteri Besar expressed confidence that with federal support, the state government will effectively address issues faced by clinics with ageing and inadequate facilities.

During his visit to KK Gelang Patah last month, Onn Hafiz expressed concern and disappointment over the clinic's conditions, citing cramped spaces, outdated waiting room facilities, limited and disorganised parking, and a lack of essential equipment such as ultrasound machines and computers.

Given these issues, he said a new clinic in Iskandar Puteri is under consideration, and the state government is committed to addressing these challenges through both immediate and phased solutions.
