GEORGE TOWN, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- Batu Kawan Industrial Park 3 (BKIP 3) is seeing a healthy pipeline of applications from interested investors, according to InvestPenang.

Its chief executive officer, Datuk Loo Lee Lian said the industrial park would be developed in five phases covering 164.07 hectares, with the first phase expected for completion by 2026.

“BKIP 3 began its marketing efforts in February 2024, following its groundbreaking ceremony and since then, we have seen a healthy pipeline of applications from interested investors.

“The current development is on track for the completion of all phases, scheduled to be by the end of 2028 and we are also currently in the process of offering land to potential investors,” she told Bernama.

Loo said BKIP 3 is strategically situated within a robust ecosystem, benefiting from its proximity to well-established industrial parks like Batu Kawan Industrial Park, with over a decade of development, and Penang Science Park, a mature hub with more than 15 years of growth.

Furthermore, she said potential investors could also benefit from excellent connectivity considering that the BKIP 3 is a mere 2km from the North-South Highway.

“With substantial land available in various plot sizes, BKIP 3 can accommodate investors’ requests in terms of plot, further boosting its appeal as an ideal investment destination.

“Established townships and schools are also within the vicinity, providing essential amenities and an educational foundation for the workforce,” she noted.

Loo said the BKIP 3 is expected to attract strategic local and foreign investments, increasing high-skilled job opportunities, and thus would also benefit the local community through higher employment rates and household incomes.

Moreover, she said local companies would benefit from economic spillovers by providing industrial solutions to multinational corporations in the state.

“This project is expected to drive improvements in infrastructure and public amenities, from better roads to enhanced traffic, benefiting the northern region of Peninsula Malaysia and raising the quality of life for Penangites.

“As these companies bring in new technologies and expertise, there will be valuable opportunities for knowledge transfer and skills development, thus strengthening Penang’s talent pool and positioning our state for continued competitiveness in the global market,” she added.
