KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) today recognised the outstanding achievements of 70 construction industry players at the Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards (MCIEA) 2024.

MCIEA gives appreciation to the entire ecosystem of the construction industry including project owners or clients, contractors, consultants and projects that have demonstrated elements of quality, safety and health, productivity and sustainability in their operations.

At the ceremony, Lim Seong Hai Capital Berhad chairman Tan Sri Lim Keng Cheng was recognised as the recipient of the Distinguished Figure Award for his dedication to leading the Malaysian construction environment for three decades which was presented by Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

Also present were Deputy Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and CIDB chief executive Datuk Mohd Zaid Zakaria.

Meanwhile, IAQ Solutions Sdn Bhd received the Best Builder of the Year Award for the Robert Bosch Production Testing Plant project.

The International Achievement Award was awarded to WCT Berhad for its outstanding achievements in the Lusail Stadium development project in Doha, Qatar in conjunction with the 2022 World Cup.

The Best Project Award - Building (Main Category)  was awarded to the Menara Affin project in Jalan Tun Razak, here, and the Government Office Parcel F, Precinct 1 in Putrajaya while the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit project: Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line/Line 2 received the Best Project Award - Infrastructure (Main Category).

This year, MCIEA also introduced five prestigious categories, namely the Leading Figure Award; Best Architect Award (G7); International Achievement Award; Best Project Award and Best Contractor Award.

In a press conference held after the ceremony, Mohd Zaid said CIDB had helped Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) make an assessment at the J. Satine construction site in Wangsa Maju which was halted following reports of an explosion at the site recently.

"DBKL has issued a stop-work order to the contractor and usually they will look back at all the designs that have been made by the independent checker to ensure that the project can be implemented or otherwise.

"So we wait and see what happens next... I am not sure how long the works will be stopped and this will be decided by DBKL as the local authority," he said.
