KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- Thirty-eight organisations and leaders who have been at the forefront of promoting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) principles, as well as sustainable workplace practices, were honoured at the Life At Work Awards (LAWA) 2024 ceremony held here tonight.
The awards were presented by Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong at the event organised by TalentCorp.
In a press conference following the ceremony, Sim said the event reflected his ministry's ongoing commitment to advancing worker-friendly policies, aligning with Malaysia MADANI's vision of creating an inclusive society and economy.
“This year, we received 200 submissions for the awards, double the number of applications from last year, which stood at 100. This significant increase in participation shows that the principles of DEI are not just possible but attainable.
“This means these companies recognise that implementing worker-friendly policies and DEI not only creates a better working environment but also enhances productivity, ultimately helping companies to generate profits,” he said.
Sim further expressed his hope that the award would motivate and encourage companies and employers in Malaysia to continue implementing worker-friendly policies that uplift the welfare, skills and achievements of their employees.
The LAWA2024 ceremony, themed ‘Recognising DEI Excellence for Sustainable Work, Workplace and Workforce,’ was also attended by Deputy Minister of Human Resources Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad, TalentCorp chairman Wong Shu Qi, industry leaders, award finalists and over 750 guests.
Among the award winners of LAWA2024 were Sunway Group (Best Public Listed Organisation), Zuspresso (M) Sdn Bhd (Best Private Limited Organisation), and Micron Memory Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Best International Organisation).
Also recognised were Central Force International Sdn Bhd (Best Small and Medium-Sized Organisation) and the Armed Forces Fund Board (Best Public Sector Organisation).
